That quote came from a specialist - endodontist. Didn't shop around much because I decided to go with the onlay. This one is covered at 50%. At first they shoved $625 under my nose, but then it quietly went down to $500 most likely because I didn't take the suggestion on the spot.

Jeez, for that price, I hope you are getting general anesthesia and a hot doc!
The doc WAS hot, but I don't care to see anybody under such circumstances. Besides, he was taken. I don't know what it is (I might've mentioned it before), but it seems like the hottest random men I see are found at the most unpleasant places I go to...

At least he is a hot endodontist and not a hot Ob/Gun

Docs will negotiate quite a bit, especially if the procedure is questioned or put on the back burner to ponder...

When I went there at first, I had no idea it was gonna be so bad and wanted to get a second opinion. That in itself did the negotiation evidently. I keep seeing articles here and there suggesting all big-ticket items are negotiable these days.

The articles are probably right...it's all negotiable. That just means it was overpriced to begin with

Did you already mention when you will be having the root canal?

Overpriced can't even begin to desribe it. That's highway robbery!

I talked to my sisters son for a bit, hes working a temporary assignment in DC for the defense dept setting up computer systems so I don't have much contact through the week, looks like I may get to see him over the weekend which should be fun with the temps back in the 80's again.
