I just spread the word how wonderful my stepdaughter is.

I Just Received The Most Wonderful And Thoughtful Gift Ever!

Considering I just posted a thread about hating to receive gifts I know this is odd. I had to share because this is the absolute best gift I have ever gotten in my life. My stepdaughter came over last night with an early Christmas present. She just got it in the mail and she was both nervous and excited about giving it to me so I got it early.

As some of you know my husband and I are building our own off grid home. I have been posting our whole story with lots of pictures for months. Nicole gave me the present and I slowly opened the package. It was a book with a nice cover. Then I looked down and saw the author and it was my name. How cool is that? The picture on the front of the book is actually the view outside my front door. I was so nervous about receiving the gift that it didn't even register.

I was amazed and truly touched that she took so much of her time to do this for me. I know for a fact that it took her endless hours to have this book made. There are over 300 pictures alone and that's not the text.

I am so proud of her. She really turned out to be a wonderful young woman.

Lisa

Oh Lisa, what a wonderful heartfelt gift!

Ok, my thing I did today is purely selfish I am afraid, but it did make me so happy and the way I look at it, if I am happy, everyone else around me is happy.

I took time out when I got up this morning for a mini spa. Took time soaking all the stress away, used my best lotions, and just relaxed for an hour. It really got me in the mood for my very busy day today...cooking and cleaning and taking kids places...ahhhh, it might not have been Calgon, but it did take me away for a few needed moments.

I drove over the state line to get some good beer for the weekend. OK has some screwy alcohol rules.

Yes they do as I rudely discovered. I should probably put that in the pet peeve thread.

About what made me happy today ... hmm ... it's the day before a 4-day break. That's got to make one .

I put the phones where I would not hear them ring and slept in late.

What a discovery! I do that all the time.

It's such a wonderful Indian summer day here! It started out gloomy and it was supposed to rain, but right now there are just puffy clouds, the Sun is peeking through them... nice breeze... balmy 77... There's no sky like Arizona's (that I've seen so far at least)! It's almost like being on the beach on a cooler day. If only the traffic noise could be replaced with crashing waves... I just love that swing chair I bought for my porch. The view is gorgeous! And I might even take a nap instead of getting riled up here. But even if I don't, I better get out of here anyway.

My dad got here early so he could take his dog to the vet down here...his vet wanted to charge $1100 for an operation and we took his dog to the vet we use and it will only be $500! And to top off the good news, his dog is not seriously ill...just fatty tumors.

He would be lost without that dog...he likes that dog more than he likes me and my brother!!
