You are almost there.
Its all about recognizing its a dream and the making things happen.
I learned it as a part of a Tibetan martial seminar I attended.

How long did it take you to learn how to do it?

I'm not really sure.
Even though I can do it, there are other aspects to master.
To give a guess, about 3 months to actively control my dreaming.
I still cannot do it all the time, but a majority of the time.

I bought a green tea latte.
I cleaned up around the house and helped out (temporarily living with relatives).
Played with the dog.
It was my day off. Just a simple day.

I helped a young pregnant mother, who was ran off the road by a car that just kept going. The mom had a baby about 2 and looks like it won't be long before another comes along. The child was so beautiful and full of life. Every minute I spent with her felt like magic. They didn't have money and needed to be rescued and restored desperately. I was happy to have the opportunity to serve my fellow human being. U don't have to have superpowers to be someone's hero, just a willingness to help even when it is inconvenient. .
