Food is not the same as crack, but I gave up overeating really fast and relatively painlessly when a wonderful woman entered my life. Combination of inspiration (mentioned by someone else in another current thread) and shame.

First and best comment.

I was with a drug addict for 8 years. 8 years of hope, fear, promises, lies, anger, and death scares.

Then I left him and he was with somebody else. Suddenly he was sober and I thought, wow, maybe it really WAS my fault (He tried to put the blame on me, even though he was addicted before we met).

Then he had the first fight with his new gf and guess what happened

I think genuine love, respect towards another human being is always helpful. However correct me if I am wrong here, drug addiction is a chemical dependency issue needs to be addressed and treated by a team of experienced medical professionals. Emotional support helps a lot, but he still needs to seek immediate medical attention.

Is she a substance abuse counselor that he sought out for help?

Otherwise, no.

Smoked crack plenty of times before. Don't get what all the hype is. Just makes me feel numb and the people you have to associate with to get your hands on crack is much much worse thane the drug itself.
