Definitely thicker, but to be honest, it really depends on the proportions, anyways. Just because a girl is skinny does not automatically make her attractive, especially if she has really narrow shoulders and no hips. Essentially, a twig.

And, keep in mind that models are taller than the average female. I had a room mate once that modeled in NYC. I am in 6'1" and she was/is taller than me.

Has there ever been a study done on whether its better to go through thick and thin with a thick woman or a thin woman?

People's definition of thick and thin is different. These two Nigerian guys made a video profiling two hot thin and thick women.... but even the thin woman might be considered curvy by others:

Sorry but I dislike Thick women, although am not a fan of thin women, would give them a chance over the thicker ones.

I like women who have shapes, but most women who call themselves "curvy" usually have quite a few lbs too much.
Then there are women who are too thin as well...
Here in Sweden we have a word called "Lagom" that simply doesn't translate well to any other language, but what it basically means is when it's just right, not too much, yet just enough, and thats what I look for in a woman physically.

I don't want a woman that's too big to fit into my pants.

You're saying you'd like girls who look like boys?

I don't care for women who look like men.

You are too skinny. Actually 5'10" and 130 is about as light as you should go.
