I look at it like an energy transfer. We are all so susceptible to each others negativity, positivity, aggressiveness, passiveness.
And I have learned to stand up for myself. Whatever fear you have about standing up for yourself, just drop it. Right now. You are the only one who has that power.
I can't tell you how different and better my life is after I have taken a stand in my life, at work, at home, with friends, with family. You can't control how other people act. But you can control how they act with you by setting boundries and telling them EXACTLY when they are crossing them. And taking them down a peg when needed.
Doormat personalities say yes and agree when what they really want to do is something else. The doormat does not gain respect for others, from othere, or for him or herself.
Turn off the doormat sign. Just say "no". It only hurts for a little while. You are hanging with the wrong people. Find a new playpen and new playmates.

Just this week has really disturbed me as I've had some reactions from others I am not used to. Oh well. Maybe I did the wrong thing but I was doing what I felt was right at the time.
