Many children of divorced parents WITHIN the US live way farther from the non-custodial parent.

I was about to ask the same question, but refrained... Sometimes he gets carried away and thinks the forum is a writing contest.

Yes, and my opinion still stands. I don't think children should be separated by long distances from either of their parents unless there's abuse or neglect or some other danger to the child. Just because a lot of people do it, doesn't mean it's optimal for the children involved. Children may end up okay, but I contend they'd end up better with full access to both parents whenever possible.

Be nice, it's obvious he only read the OP's first post and didn't see her subsequent ones, he was trying to be helpful

And for the record, I think urban is an eloquent writer - one of my faves!

I might get bashed for this but here's my take.

My S/O and I have done long-distance for over 3 years. It will be another 2 years, 9 months before I can see him more than once a year and talk to him more than once every two weeks.

Yet still we wait...THAT, my friend, is love, and if this guy was worth a thing he'd wait on you or work with you. What he said to you shows me you're not his life-love, you're just an international booty-call.

Best of luck to you.
