This isn't the same thing as blaming her for her husbands affair - it's more like explaining how the affair might have come about in the first place. After all, he said it was just his theory.
But I do have to wonder, were Mrs. Edwards ambitions and hunger for power so strong that she really did push him to continue on when all conventional wisdom would have had him quietly dropping out to concentrate on his family when her cancer returned?
I think the death of John and Elizabeth's son may have had something to do with their marital problems. It's true that marriages often don't survive the death of a child. From all acounts, they were an extremely close family and the death of Wade Edwards must have taken it's toll.
I suspect they had 2 more children to fill the void in their lives. Elizabeth, being near 50, had to take fertility drugs to become pregnant. It's too bad those children have to go through all this because of the public's insatiable need to know everything.
I supported Edwards in his presidential quest and I also liked Elizabeth. They were both ambitious and wanted him to be president. So What? He also tried to squirm away from the truth and lie about his affair when caught. Not honorable but again, a typical response from anyone caught in such a situation.
It's typical for people to kick at someone when they're down but I won't do that. The Edwards' are private citizens and their life is really nobody's business.
He has those boyish looks and charisma - kind of like Clinton did when he first got elected
Exactly. Right on right on right on. Power baby. It's all a friggin power trip for these guys. So many of the same ilk. It really sucks that we have to choose leaders from such a selection of scumbags.
Rush Limbaugh once said that it was Elizabeth's fault that her husband cheated on her. I don't care if she was the worst wife in the world. No one deserves to be betrayed like that. As for John Edwards, his image ranks right down there with Tiger Woods and Jay Leno. I feel bad for Elizabeth who'll end her life knowing that 30 years of her life were wasted on a monster. I especially feel bad for the kids including the one he had with Hunter. How tragic to go through life being known as the product of a politician's affair.
No but if she didn't divorce him for it, then she must not have minded all that much. For some women, the affairs don't matter too much because they want the parties, the money, the prestige of being married to someone with the right connections. Just like Hillary stayed no matter how many affairs or how blatantly Bill cheated on her.

Elizabeth Edwards is the one that came from money and had more money than John Edwards. She married down.
