It just makes me so angry. And it was MURDER! Senseless mass murder. And I REALLY, REALLY hate whenever anyone uses the phrase, "Drink the Kool-Aid." Those people didn't not willingly drink (and it wasn't Kool-Aid, btw, it was Flavor-Aid). In fact, many people didn't drink-they were injected. There were so many syringes-and some I believe were still in people when they died.
I am afraid that something like this CAN happen again.

Nothing in the brochure on Jesus Christ , as Jonestown was non Christians , as the leader gave no reference that Jesus was divine and only said the Jesus was a servant of God only ........ so Jonestown cult would have been a form of godliness but no power from the living God through Jesus
Jonestown belonged to Jones, as part of the Peoples Temple of the Disciples of Christ.
In the very brochure (1 of many), on page 11, someone is quoted as giving credit to "other members of the Peoples Temple Church" and someone else saying that they are impressed with the activities in Mission Village (unknown if this was a previous British settlement name).
Quote:
Peoples Temple
Classification: Christian new religious movement, Utopian/social change church movement
Orientation: Eclectic Pentecostal, Christian socialist and partly communist, Theosophical, & New Thought
Church Polity: Semi-congregationalist
They constantly talked about Jones performing "almost miracles" and "real healings."
However, their ties with the "non-sectarian" "not pro-religious for religion's sake" ideals of the USSR seemed to grow stronger and stronger. It is unknown if they sought special tax-exemptions given to US State Accepted religions.
Jones himself, seems to have been rather psychotic running on personal issues that he held dear without any real deep/loyalist regard for a particular religious mythology himself (although he trained as a Christian pastor). He simply seems to have found the indoctrinated ignorance and servitude of much of Christianity to have been useful to him.
I will also invite readers to read my post #12 on page 2 of this thread, I believe.
