Does anyone know a psychological explanation for this?
I do not necessarily mean in church (it is easy to conclude why people feel the placebo there). I mean "born agains" who claim to feel it randomly for the first time when trying to convert.
Is it because they've filled their mind with the bible, and they are subconsciously expecting the overwhelming experience of being "filled with the spirit"?
Thanks
"Filled with the spirit" means that those people are receiving God's Divine Love in their soul. The Holy Spirit is the deliverer of God's substance. Christians think it is the "Holy Spirit" coming into their souls, but again they're mistaken.
In order to receive this substance, it is necessary that our soul first has an awakening. When a person prays and has the faith... and sometimes it may be simply listening to Christian music, or any other type of music that we happen to love, this helps to stir the soul in this awakening. When our soul is open and longing for this Love, it will come.
Prior to this awakening, our soul is closed and asleep, which is the proper description. It just needs to wake up in order to become a recipient of the most awesome Divine Love action!

hanni, so you believe the first disciples went in and literally heal terminally ill people?
Of course they did, and Jesus said they would do greater things than him. They walked on water, they raised the dead, and imagine a dead man being dead for 4 days? They healed lepers, they went into villages and healed EVERY SINGLE PERSON, they drove out demons.
They did miracles so great that it changed the world. They were given a power and a rain like nobody had ever seen before. They were given power not to sin, and those disciples sold all they had to give to Jewish widows, they lived commonly amongst themselves, and imagine the spirit still being here. They walked in a power unknown to us.
We had a husband and a wife make such a great sacrifice as to sell their house and become homeless, but because they tried to lie, they were both killed.
Imagine a spirit still being present when somebody has lied to the spirit about money, or about honesty, there would be dead people laying everywhere IF, If they were really ever indwelled with he power of Shavuot, the power of Shavuot would have killed them dead. If the power of Shavuot came to all the people who claim to have it, there would be millions laying dead by the end of he week for lying to the spirit.
What we saw in the New Testament is power, it is not mistaken, and there was no doubt, their shadows healed people, and I see NO EVIDENCE of anyone today being able to ask what they will and to know it will be done, aint no such animal.
Meh, I am just saying, God did miracles before Pentecost, and before Pentecost we saw him heal people, we saw people with the spirit of God, but the rain of Pentecost is something quite different.
I am not saying there are not spirits, I am simply stating the facts about the two rains that come each year, and the coming of the Lord is as those two rains. The first rain came, and it was shared from hand to hand to those converts of Judaism, and then Pentecost was outlawed, and the people who still kept Pentecost were killed by Christians who outlawed Pentecost.
That first rain came and went as the rain of the spring comes and goes each year. We await such a flood of rain, that nobody will even remember Pentecost. The rain of the spring came and went with the first coming of Christ, and here we are waiting on the promise of the second rain. The second promised rain is a flood that will transform humans into something else, it circumcises the flesh, and that is how powerful a rain we wait upon. JUST LIKE the first disciples who prepared for the promise of the first rain, we watch and also prepare for the second promised rain EACH YEAR.
Nobody has the power of the first rain because we were already told it would end, and that first rain was given as proof of God in those days, a power so great as to actually raise the dead, to heal the blind and the lame walked.
A second rain is promised to come on Shemini Atzeret, both rains are appointed, the coming of the Lord IS as the rains, two comings, one for Passover and one for Tabernacles.
Ive no idea what a tabernacle or pentacost is.
God cares about my butt, not the thong of theological dogma.

Getting to know what is our soul is a good thing.
Yes, it is a cognitive bias, where you reinforce the beliefs you want to accept regardless of the validity of those beliefs. It is circular, where you need to believe first before you get 'proof' of your belief.

Why on earth would there be a "psychological" explanation for something that is not of this world, and therefore not of man-made ideas like psychology??? Blessings....
