I find that squabbling with theists online is a fine interim activity. I can usually hold fire, dish out the 2thDKRs and shout "Now get the hell off my property" and get back before the screen has gone into deep sleep mode.

I don't think anyone is worshipping those images.

Who could picture Jesus walking around saying, 'trick or treat ' (a threat) while wearing a devil's costume, etc.

Well, I can't picture Jesus in his temperature controlled living room anonymously posting on internet forums, either. I can't picture him having fast food. I can't picture him having sex or putting up a Christmas tree. Or eating meat and dairy together. I can't picture him wearing jeans. Or skipping synagogue. So you do any of those things?

I'm a Liberal Theist sort of in the general tradition of Jesus, and I have always loved Halloween. But for some reason it didn't seem like a big event this year. It seemed kind of small. I've noticed that with both Halloween and Christmas. Some years seem big and some small, in terms of the general spirit of the holiday.

I find the ' general spirit ' of the holiday would be the holiday of the Spring month of Nisan the 14th day Jewish calendar.
That is the only RED letter day for Christians because that is the only day Jesus said to remember him at Luke 22:19.
So, the rest are all man-made holidays and Not part of 1st-century Christianity.
Jesus warned about such general traditions at Matthew 15:9.
