First of all my neighbor and I have a history of about 50 yrs ago when we were going out and having fun, dancing, boy scouting and doing what young women did years back.

Then along the way she embraced and got herself "born again". Read the bible for years, literally was in her apt 24 hrs reading.

The change is dramatic, traumatic and she is now dealing with a cataract surgery gone wrong and I'm trying to help her with ideas on what to do. She owns a piece of property in our our town some millions but won't do anything with it although she could use some money and especially now with these eye(s) and needs to get out of HMO and to some other specialists.

Anyway, yesterday I was talking to her and she says there are demons in her apt and do I know a witchdoctor and I said no, but said I do use a pendulum and she thinks that is witchcraft. Ugh ugh....

So today, I see a cross painted on her front door with like a dripping paint off the cross. What is she doing? Is this like an Exorcism?

I gave her a note and said if she does not want any of my help, get some sage and burn it to get rid of what she feels are evil spirits.

Should I be fearing what she's doing? Had to get this off my chest.

The first event when she was converted to born again religion sounds like she was getting tired of her younger more hedonistic lifestyle, and was beginning to see the value of the other kind of lifestyle.

The current one sounds like she is stressed by the eye problems.

In regards to both situations with your friend, my own belief is that our mental and physical conditions are actually both parts of one entire biological system. Some people have a way of projecting their inner thoughts onto God. Some people like this tend to be more suspicious in general, at least in my opinion.

Well, our lifestyles were not hedonistic and she realized along the path of her life her preacher father molested her and that was the big blow...if it would have been me I would have run so fast from religion of all kinds, but she got in deeper. It took me many decades later to run from MOST forms of religion.

She is so stressed with her health and the property she owns and now blaming it on demons in her apt.

Well, I guess that religion just makes a lot more sense to certain people. So it's natural that they would want to find help with that by going deeper into it, and say that the person who caused the offense was a "sinner" who was out of step with the faith and not really following it correctly.

The house needs to receive a space clearing. and a house blessing. and after that, feng shui adjustments. the most important of those is the space clearing.

i'm not sure what you are asking. it sounds like you are long standing friends and she may be asking for your help.
and it sounds like she does not want something that might conflict with her religious beliefs.

are you wanting to be able to extend to her some help? and are wondering what you can offer her to help?
because you do sound like you are genuinely concerned for her.

you could let her know that you know someone you trust who could do a "house blessing" for her home.
If she asks who they are or who they are with you could say you know her through your own church and you could mention she is surrounded by angels, she has angels surrounding her. (you mentioned on another thread you are associated with a denomination.)
this may establish trust (and overcome her suspicion of witchcraft) because as you are her friend and she has asked for help, she does trust you.

if she asks what the house blessing is you could tell her prayers, and white candles. And she needs to be out of the house when the blessing is done because what ever is "cleared" from the house she does not want to have attaching itself to her. You could take her out for a walk in the park or a cup of tea or drive her to an appointment while the work is done.

if she accepts your offer of help, then you want to find someone who is familiar with and experienced in space clearing. You find the person to do this and explain to her the situation and your friends fears, but that your friend is fine with blessings, and prayers, and white candles. The person doing the space clearing can do the work in a way that honors and respects your friend.

don't discount that where she is living could be what is making her ill (for any number of reasons). sound your friend out about how amenable she is to moving; and ask her if she "feels better" when she is somewhere else, i.e. out of that house, such as when she is on vacation, or when she visits with friends elsewhere.

it sounds like she would also benefit from some very gentle non-invasive therapeutic body work by someone who is LICENSED and probably a female, and experience in working with childhood trauma or sexual abuse. She may not be up for it but sound her out about acupuncture also see if she is amenable to trying that.

best wishes and your kindness to your friend is also a benefit. If none of the things listed above are able to be acted upon, then you can always on your own do your own prayers (or whatever the equivalent is in your on tradition) for her healing safety peace of mind and protection.

so she asked you for a witchdoctor to help; but then said the pendulum was witchcraft. what is your sense of what she does trust in terms of generic "divine beings" who could help her and protect her? God? angels? her own guardian angel? knowing her as you do, who does she turn to for help in her prayers or her belief system?

I'm wondering if the trauma from the botched eye surgery has affected her mental health.

I don't know your friend of course, but it sounds like she could benefit from a cognitive assessment...perhaps you could gently suggest this to her family.

She has a group of friends from the "born again" community she's involved in for probably the last 20 yrs.

I'm not in a church community now and have no plans to be. I can't just sit down and talk to her as we are at distant points in our lives, her being with the "born again" and me a huge non believer.

I wrote her a note and mentioned the sage and it's in her hands. She is highly stressed and has also gained so much weight of the years with the bible and being locked up as she's chosen.

I just wonder why she had the cross painted on her door and looks like it was professionally done, Perfect lines and then the painting dripping off it.
