I think it would be better to let this one go for now until such time as SCOTUS has a panel which places the Constitution above the Bible (as it should).
I don`t see any thing wrong with trusting in God ..
There isn't. So long as it is a personal choice, which a person is making for him/herself.
However, it is wrong to stamp religious messages on to public buildings, using public money to do so. Why? Because each of us are free to trust in God or not, as we each see fit. And deciding "not" does not exclude one from the public "We". (Still a citizen, still represented by the same government, still have the same rights under the US Constitution).
If you disagree, think for a moment how you would like for your local government buildings to read "In Allah We Trust" or "In Tezcatlipoca We Trust" or "We Do Not Trust In Any Deity You Might Name". Is that something you would consider to be appropriate?

Of course you don't. You're wearing rose colored glasses. Those of us who have taken them off or never wore them see it different.
To me, "trust in god" is akin to I'm ok with slavery, genocide, mass rape, stoning gays, blood/human sacrifce etc. etc. etc. Just because you worship your watered down version does not excuse the OT god. Now, go wipe your rosey glasses clean and put them back on.
To me, it's akin to "trust in the FSM" or "trust in Allah" (Allah is the word that Christian Bibles use in Arabic) or "trust in Voldemort" or "trust in Harry"
The concepts are as empty or filled with whatever as you might have them.
The original motto was "E Pluribus Unum" but the neo Christians hated our Secular Country that has given them so many tax breaks and thus they sought to destroy any sense of lack of factioning.
They think being official Monotheist and Anti-Atheist and Anti-Agnostic and Anti-Oligarchist Polytheist is one step closer to being fully Christian.
When it is merely one step closer to being broken apart.

We do. We think that believing unvalidated claims is bad in principle. However, we do recognise that people have the right to believe what makes them feel good, even if if it's that they are Napoleon, that aliens in a flying saucer are projecting messages into their head or indeed that a god is doing so.
But what we say they do not have a right to do and it is bad for society is to force their religion onto people who do not want it, quite apart from pushing a form of religion that differs from their own.
In an ideal world it would be: In each other, we trust.
