The survival drive is integral to ALL life or there would be no continued reproduction and therefore no life. The sophistication by which it manifests is what changes as the complexity of the organism is increased, currently culminating in the various evolved types of brains and responses in various species.

The expected ubiquity of life within our Cosmos is generally accepted by most educated people. But the age of any planets within the 50 million light year distance you reference would have had fifty million MORE years to evolve than we have had so your presumption that they would be less evolved seems questionable. Your description of the mechanisms that drive human behavior seems fairly accurate but I fail to see your point and its applicability to this thread.

Well done Mystic. That is just how it seems to be. The relevance is that 'Consciousness' is not a valid argument for an intelligent Creator. Abiogenesis and Cosmic origins are the two other main 'Gap for God' apologetics. They have their own counter -arguments.

I fail to see where god is needed in what you have just written.

God is where the survival drive originates as an endemic aspect of God's life. What is your source for the origin of such a unique drive?

Avoidance of pain.
Desire to continue living.

Are you suggesting that the first life form (prokaryote?) thought about avoiding pain and connected it to staying alive? Are you suggesting that the origin of the survival drive (which IS the "desire to continue living") is the desire to continue living?

No. But at least we both can see that you're confused.

Are you saying that god worries about the feelings of a prokaryote more than he cares about a dying, starving baby in the poorest regions of Africa?

Just trying to comprehend your reasoning about the origin of the survival drive you take for granted.

Plant life also shares this 'survival drive.'
Our planet would have been reduced to rock, dirt and water a very long time ago if this were not so

Evolution. Not God. If you thought about what evolution got critters to do in order to ensure species-survival, you'd never use the words 'God' and 'Love' int he same sentence.
