Me too Dew, I come in very quietly several times a week. It is like a mini vacation just to read and absorb the peace and quiet here from the many debates outside the circle.

Nighteyes , I hope to read some more of your writings..You make me long for days past when I would hike my own mountains with my children or later my grandchildren to introduce them to the natural beauty and wonders of the world beyond and before "gadgets"

I second the motion Nighteyes should post more of his writing.

I look at the world and see how much has been changed since my childhood. Can anyone else remember when flocks of birds would sometimes block the sun? When was the last time I came across a stream in which the water was pure enough to drink?

How many kids today can lie down in a meadow on a warm summer day and look for faces in the clouds?

The memory of the sound of hail on a tin roof.

May the children of today find wonderful memories to tell their grand children.

Point.

Missed.

Seriously, though, I was thinking along those lines on my way back from town the other day. I spent 25 years in a small village in the countryside...when I went back to poke around, I was saddened that the it had lost that sleepy character that I'd loved so much growing up.

When (and if) I have children, I'm going to help them learn the stuff that really matters.

What's a "Tomb Raider"?

You probably never built a "Skipjack" to slid down a snow covered hill or ever went "Rinkydinking" on Halloween.

How about Playing "Bendybo" on the ice?

Did you ever holler "All ee All ee in Free"?

Ever go on a "Snipe Hunt"?

"All ee all ee OTS in free"....get it right hehehehe

Don't EVEN talk to me about my snipe hunt courtesy of my dad and his buddy on a camping trip. They did hang around out of sight to see if I was going to be ok, but when THEY got tired they started making growling noises.......BETWEEN me and camp.

No ice to speak of where i lived, but we made trips to snow and used whatever to slide. Hay wuz a lotta fun though and hayrides to an abandoned cemetary.

NOW you've got me started.
