I have rescued many dogs through the years and yes I believe they have a soul. They are unique beings. Many will lay down their lives to save their owner. I have had some come back in my dreams to let me know they are fine. My life is definitely better because of their love and devotion.
My sympathies, Richard. Our precious toy poodle Dinky passed almost 6 years ago and we still feel the loss viscerally. We have a small Yorkie Chappie who has won our hearts as well now. They are very precious souls indeed.
Indeed......Sorry for your loss of Dinky...My wife still cries on occasion of thinking of Sweet-Pea...Bawled my eyes out as I watch him pass and could do nothing to stop it...I whispered in his ear to go play with he other puppies in heaven...I know for a fact that our little baby had a soul as HaShem says...

There is a youtube video of a dog police dog mourning the loss of his handler.
There is a story of a man jumping into a river to recue a bear cub in trouble. He swam the cub to the bank where it's distressed mother was. The mother gave the man a hug! Bear hug?
I've had dogs and now recently birds that I have raised as rescues. I can say with confidence that even birds have personality. I've had wild birds communicate with me. Nothing profound, just a bird asking for help with a dried out crust of bread. That was quite amazing actually. One hears of that sort of thing.
There is no reason to assume that animals other than humans have anything less than whatever humans have.

these are emotions, not souls. Yes animals have emotions. The system that we are in has more of everything we have. In fact, there is not one thing I know that it doesn't.
But its exactly the line of logic I use to say that we are in a living system. At the very least, it matches life more than non life. Then ask of the position is consistent with observation.
