Nothing has ever failed more miserably than you trying to make atheists look bad. All you are doing is smacking yourself in the face. Then why do you do it? I have two friends who are brilliant but they believe in god because they have been conditioned to do so. They are ignorant (lacking knowledge) and uneducated (lacking education) by modern standards.
It is necessary for us to evaluate them from these perspectives because we, modern people, are asked, so to speak, to subscribe to their, ancient goat herders, way of thinking and their understanding of how world works.
And we did so, and we came to a rational conclusion that they are not exactly knowledgeable and/or educated enough to follow them, or their, guidance, or adopt their worldview What's wrong with that?
So why do you take this rational approach such a strange way? Why do you consider statement of fact about them a personal insult to you when nobody means it this way?

The way the world actually works...is that 4+ out of 5 are Theist and embrace some Theological Concept...and it's growing. That's a fact.
Their Faith in these perceptions and Beliefs are sincere and heartfelt. They view them as "Sacred", "Holy", "Divine", etc.
Others may not agree, and have differing Beliefs...but it is uncool to disparage and cast aspersions on the vast majority that embrace these concepts and heavily criticize the Beliefs and the Believers for holding them.
The Theists/Religious posting about their Faith, the tenets thereof (and their embrace of it), would figure...it is a forum titled "Religion & Spirituality" (formerly Philosophy) after all.
And though it is understood (and even desired) that other views and Beliefs (including Atheism) will be part of it...what's with all the mocking, and vicious criticism?
Let's be honest here...this is mostly a Theism/Religion/Religious Adherent derision forum. Just look at these recent posts.
Especially if one considers the percentage of Theists compared to Atheists in the overall population.
There have been Atheist Members that spend years initiating hundreds upon hundreds of threads disparaging Religion/Theism, in every way, from every angle.
I've never seen a single thread by a Theist Member specifically to criticize being Atheist or the concept of Atheism.
QUESTION FOR ATHEISTS:
Why do the Atheists not just state their views (even draw comparisons), but refrain from being derisive toward the Theist Beliefs that differ from theirs, and the Theists for believing them?
And...would they not expect the Theists to respond and counter such denigration?

Right...mocking, derision, and insults of Theist Beliefs and Theists. And that's what you focus on and think is good & great.
The Theist posts ask why you do this...but you just do it more, and blame them for taking exception.
