If true, he sure doesn't seem to be in any big hurry. A good many millions of people have come and gone believing the same thing. Never getting to see any sign of return as they hoped and believed would come soon. Then again if we consider the near 14 billion years since the universe has been around, what's another billion or so more years of waiting? Best nobody hold their breath too long while waiting in any case. Indeed, what's another billion or so years? Another billion or so people? I'm certainly not among them either way.
PS: If true, it will be more than just a global event I might add...
It's been 2,000 years, and were in season for Jesus return. There are many signs for the coming of Jesus, however the two big that events that are needed Jesus second coming is, Israel needs to be reformed as a Nation (happened in 1948), and the Temple needs to be rebuilt, which could be any day. Scripture is very clear the generation alive who witness Israel come back together will be alive to see see the end-time events.

Are you referring to those wnho were old enough in 1948 to recignize the formation of midern day Isreal or those younger than that? Because if the former there will not be that many left in a decade or two.

He did return and it was a global event, but not everyone is aware of it. Spreading that Good News is what the Great Commission was supposed to correct. Unfortunately, it was turned into the creation of a religion and a Church instead! Human perversity at its finest!
Why would He come as a human? Because we are so darn stupid and lazy.
We, not me , of course, lol, don't take the time to Be still and know Him. So to help us
from our ignorance He comes as a physical being we can SEE---or sends an Emissary, representative.
Someone has to drop tangible bread crumbs so we can find our way Home!
Gee, just noticed dattaswami is no longer here to read my post!

People born in 1948 are pushing 80 years old now so they'd better hurry up building that temple.
Bonus points for using "it's been 2000 years" as a feature rather than a bug, though.
Never quite sure what to believe, but I'm quite sure I don't believe most of what I'm reading in this thread...
At least part of the confusion comes from these notions involving a physical appearance and these requirements having to do with Israel which at best is just one religious version. Certainly not all or even most religions.
Then too are all the testaments from so many people including some posting in this forum who claim Jesus has not only returned in one form or another, but has done so and continues to do so many times, over and over again. They have felt his presence one way or another. Some on a daily basis! So which is it? Are we awaiting his return or are most of us just missing it?
Needless to say, it's hard to believe what so many people seem to believe along these lines. For so many reasons...
I did. For 60 years. Never heard a peep from God. You're one of the lucky few God chose to save, BF. The rest of us he couldn't have cared less about and predestined us to eternal hell. Calvin was right. God plays favorites and chose a few to save, the rest he threw away.

Don't worry. if the Bible says "man's days are 120 years" Christians will argue we have until 2068.

Maybe you just weren't listening...
If you expect God to come to you in cymbals crashing...roaring voice...3 mile high entity that looks "god-like", you've got the wrong image of God.
God doesn't often come to us with bells clanging. He's a voice...a calming, steady voice...He has probably spoken to you more times than you can imagine. Yet, you ignored Him. You're trying to see him in *your* image...and not in the image of Him...

Not.
Even.
Close.
If you've read the Bible then you KNOW that's not true.
