However, we can also see how Solomon is a type of Christ, and so the prophecy also applies to Christ - being both a physical descendant of David and the possessor of an everlasting Kingdom (the Church).

It seems that you may be unfamiliar with the exegetical method of Typology.

Biblical Typology - examples

Now you are moving the goal posts from the literal prophecy that failed to typology argument about Jesus.

The prophecy literally failed for David and his descendants, there has not been a kingdom of Israel for over 2000 years.

No matter what you believe, I think that if one tries to be the kind of person you'd like to spend eternity with, there would be far fewer problems.

The Church is the true Israel, and the Church is the Kingdom of God.

Correct me if I am wrong but Atheists don't believe in eternity. I personally believe in the philosophy of less stress and less anger = better life. Insulting another person's religious beliefs makes you look arrogant and pompous. We should all just smile and respect one another.

It is possible to respect a person as a fellow human being while not respecting their views/opinions.

Some views/opinions are more respectable than others.

There was a thread in the A&A forum a few years ago where they discussed what might happen after death. Some of them think a ghost or a spirit is possible. I knew an outspoken atheist a couple of decades ago. He told his children that he would haunt them forever if they had any kind of religious service as part of his funeral.

Yes, we should all endeavor to respect one another. Religious views are opinions, worldviews, philosophies, theologies, etc. None of them can be objectively proven. Hopefully, there is a "live and let live" attitude, and an approach that leaves each person to hold whatever views they have without pressure to change.

Except your argument was that the prophecy is about David AND Jesus. Repeating your Christian claim is simply evading that an OT prophecy about David literally failed. Which would explain why the Christians used it, to rescue the prophecy.

Jesus sits on the throne of David. His Kingdom is an everlasting one, and it is not of this world.

The prophecy appeared to fail for a time, but with Christ we see that it did not fail.

ATHEISM - Disbelief in or denial of the existence of God or gods.

If you perceive my response as arrogant and an insult to beliefs, we'll have to agree to disagree.
