What happens to man after death?

Man consists of a material body and an ethereal soul.
Death is the separation of the soul from the body.
The body then will disintegrate and decay and will become dust or earth.
While the soul is the true man, and the soul is immortal and will live forever.

The soul is an ethereal true copy of the body; so that souls will know each other by the shapes they had in the life of the World.
It is the soul in fact that sees, hears and perceives the pain and pleasure, while the material body is like a board of wood does not see, neither does it hear nor even feel any pain or pleasure.

Sorting of people in the afterlife:

A / The prophets, apostles, the righteous and martyrs: These will go to Paradise (or the Garden) of Abode following their death.

God – be glorified – said in the Quran 51: 50
فَفِرُّوا إلَى اللهِ , إنِّي لَكُمْ مِنْهُ نَذِيرٌ مُبِينٌ

The explanation:
( Therefore, flee to God; for surely I am a plain warner to you from Him.)

It means: Get rid of the matter; that is by your righteous deeds and piety; so that you will go to the ethereal paradises in the neighborhood of you Lord.

B / The believers: the monotheists, who have some sins and some wrong-doing: These will be punished:

[*]Either in the life of the World, before their death: by poverty, imprisonment, disease, fear or similar afflictions which will be the fulfillment of part or all of their due punishment.

[*]Or their punishment will be some easy punishment in the afterlife world.

[*]Then after the fulfillment of his punishment, he will joyfully return to his family:
>> his family and his house in the material World, but he cannot contact with them: they cannot perceive, see or hear him; in addition the smells of kitchens and lavatory will much annoy him, and their sounds when they speak will be intolerable by him, and he cannot withstand any air movement.
>> or he will go to his new family in the Garden of Abode (which is other than the Garden of Everlasting or the Garden of Prosperity which he will enter on Judgment Day.)

This is in the Quran 84: 7-9
فَأمّا مَنْ أُوتِيَ كِتابَهُ بِيَمِينِهِ . فَسَوْفَ يُحاسَبُ حِساباً يَسِيراً . و يَنْقَلِبُ إلَى أهْلِهِ مَسْرُوراً

The explanation:
(And whoso is given his book [of deeds] in his right hand,

He shall be punished with a mild punishment,

And will return joyfully to his family.)

C / Disbelievers, atheists, those associating (idols, Jesus, saints, imams or sheikhs) and wrong-doers: these will have the devils set on them and have control over them to enslave and subject them, to humiliate them, to afflict them with various kinds of torment and chastisement.

I don't know why I have the strange feeling that the OP is going to consider all these as the wrong answers. Just a crazy hunch!

How can it be nothing happens? and this is the major theme of humanity, that all generations died and nothing is there

For this idea, the atheist is happy, and the wrong-doer deceive himself, like a drunkard deceiving himself with his cup of wine (to forget about his inevitable destiny)
