It's the sweetest sound to hear some salesperson greet me "Merry Christmas" after giving them profits from shopping at their business.
I agree. I don't like it when a clerk says "Happy Holidays." It's not their fault, it's obviously the store policy. I always say to them, "no, it's Merry Christmas" with a smile.
i work at walmart and i always say MERRY CHRISTMAS. it just doesnt sound right to say Happy Holidays. If im not allowed to say it then oops looks like i dont listen very well. and well they didnt tell me.
I don't like crowds. I don't like traffic. I don't like shopping. I don't like overly tired kids whining about what they need and screaming if they don't get it. I don't like lines. I don't like insufferably "happy" music played incessantly. I don't like people telling me to have a "happy" or "Merry" anything. Whats not to dislike?
On the other hand, I like the stillness of the winters woods. I like the strength of the faith of the people as they pray. I like the joy and promise of a new season as the world sleeps in preparation for it's rebirth.

I guess you don't value your Jewish and other non-Christian clients very much.

It's not that so much as rejecting being told one has to be PC, that Christmas trees are really 'Holiday trees' or 'Hanukka bushes' or 'Allah plants.' It just doesn't sound right.
Having said that, I am seriously annoyed that so many people around me have already put up decorations, including the city, by November 30. Lights are pretty, but a month of them - and a month of window decorations in stores - is just too much.
