Oh please, it tons of people out here living paycheck to paycheck because they had to take a lower paying job after losing their job.

You never heard of that huh?

I have been a renter and am now a landlord. I have always paid my bills, no matter what unfortunate thing was going on in my life.

The lying, denying, and entitlement of some renters is mind-boggling and very disheartening. If someone told me, sincerely, that they were having "x" problem and asked if I could work with them, that would be one thing, but to just not pay and then have an attitude about it, is unbelievable to me.

I have a tenant who has bounced checks, is constantly late paying and it's always someone else's fault. The tenant never apologizes for the inconvenience and appears to view me as some kind of monster for wanting the rent paid on time. It's just weird.

If you make choices to live beyond your means that is a choice.

So what if a tenant with a good rent history called you to say they have no more money coming in since their UC ran out and will no longer be able to stay at the apt?

Yes that is true but I am talking about someone losing their job and not being able to afford to stay at the apt.

You never heard of that huh?

Have you ever heard of working two jobs? Have you ever heard of selling off things you dont' need? Have you ever heard of cancelling your cable or gym membership? Have you heard about cancelling your fancy phone service for a pay as you go plan?

Nah, you haven't heard of these things, but you have heard of screwing the landlord ( and whoever else) because you made bad choices. Always blame someone else...that's the ticket!

Living paycheck to paycheck is a personal choice...and for us, it's a no go.

Philly, I could have "afforded" to have spent 50% more on rent when I moved into my apt, but chose a more frugal option, btw. With rent increases, I'm now paying more, so I'm buying and relocating.

Because they chose an apt they can't afford. Because they chose a lifestyle they can't afford. Because they chose not to save their money in case they lost their job. It's all about choices, Dude...can't break it down any more for ya.

Baloney. I'd rather spend more than 24% of my income on a rental in a good area and cut back on other expenses. The 24% rule isn't cast in stone.
