Why would it be less marketable? Disabled people are waiting years and years on lists. Why wouldn’t there be demand for it? I’m not saying that you’re wrong. I just want to understand.
Because not all landlords accept section 8 nor are they considered subsidized housing (which has the long waiting lists). Not that all disabled people are on section 8 or government assistance, but a large percent is.
There was a 1-bedroom Handicap unit in Hagerstown MD 3-4 weeks ago ... 60+ people were fighting over it. Yes, I was 1 No I didn't get it. So, there is a High Demand in my area. I feel that I am paying for something the Owner is going to get Decades after I am gone use from it. But pay I will.
dkf747 Kim lives in FL So maybe there is more handicap housing than other areas.
I don’t live in Florida and haven’t for years.. but I can tell you there isn’t much along the lines of handicap housing, government subsidized housing and sec 8 has been closed for years in our county.
Where I live now, (the Caribbean) handicap housing and disability accessibility isn’t a ‘thing’. Disabled people are taken care of by family all their lives.
Section 8 been closed for a Decade where I live. Not ALL Handicap people are on Section 8. The guy in this 1-bedroom was in the apt from 1999 when the place was built until he Died 3 years ago. Was a Vet NO Section 8. Lost his legs in the War got quite a large VA Check.
There are 6 buildings in the Complex with 8 Apts each. Only 10% are Section 8. You do the math.

Sometimes I think you pick and choose the parts of a post you actually read….I said not all are on sec 8. (I also mentioned the lack of inventory for low income housing)
Are you talking about the one bedroom you’re moving to or another one? It’s not clear.

Are we supposed to know which 1 bedroom unit “this” is?
This thread is about a one bedroom unit you’re moving to, so it’s safe to assume it’s the same unit, unless you specify otherwise.
I read your post, word for word, which is why I asked for clarification.
You are talking about needing a handicapped apartment for more than one person. How can that possibly not have anything to do with your personal life or your health issues?
I've defended you many times on here, Katie, when I've felt you deserved to be defended. You apparently want to talk about yourself. Well, if you talk about yourself on a public forum then people are going to respond by talking about you and the issue you have brought up. You've been on this forum for 6 years, so why does that surprise you when it happens, that people have opinions about what you have posted?
