You could get small motorboats as well. I haven't been there in years, I used to camp on the sandy shores miles away from the marina, but I would be shocked if there wasn't a nice resort there now since Del Webb had the marina franchise back in the day. A sleeping bag on the sand may not be too kind to our 60+yo backs these days!

I have heard that it has gotten pricey, like everything else... But the rest of the trip would be cheap, esp as gas prices have gone down... I will never forget driving south out of Moab for a few hours & suddenly with no warning we were perched on the edge of a cliff wall that dropped straight down & Monument Valley was spread out below us to the horizon. Breathtaking!

That would be the Moki dugway. I plan on spending a night down the road from their at Muley Point.

You're always giving good advice here so I'll give you some now: Go out and find yourself a really good shopping cart that has good wheels that turn smoothly. There's nothing more aggravating than pushing a cart full of all of your earthly belongings and one of the friggin' wheels is stuck. Oh, and find a good spot close to a subway grate for warmth in the winter.

Welcome to retirement and congratulations!
