I would dearly love to shave my head (super-short pixie or even a buzz cut), as I know some women with cute little faces who wear full makeup and dangling earrings who can pull that look off beautifully. I also know that I'm not one of them -- my face is rather long -- and full makeup and dangling earrings are not my style. Still, at some point, I won't care even as much as I care now, which is not much (sweats, tennies, no makeup or jewelry, and hair pulled back are my comfortable norm) and will do it! One thing about hair: it grows.

The title of the thread says it all, a ignorant bias , women are not wearing MENS haircuts lol! Women are wearing hAirstyles that suits them.

The choice of hairstyle in senior years is nobody else’s business. During the working years, some workplaces impose a dress code that covers haircut/style, but after that, you’re freeeeeeeeee!

Has nothing to do with gender and making it one shows your OWN preferences, not necessarily those of other people.

Greying is a real problem, IMO. Some lucky individuals have beautiful color and texture, but others (like me) get steel-grey, salt-and-pepper steel wool. Coloring brings its own problems, esp. for brunettes, and doesn't improve texture. Another reason I would consider just getting rid of it entirely!

What’s wrong with gray? The biggest sign of old age is whether someone’s eyes look lively or not. Whether the brain is still open for business.

I can think of a couple of reasons why a woman would cut her hair really short. Like, having great bone structure, and beautiful eyes. Let the focus be on those features.

Some of us get a shade of gray that is not complimentary to our skin tone. That's why it took me so long to quit coloring. I'd start letting it grow out, and my skin just looked terrible. Sallow or something. With the salt and pepper, I have to wait till I'm mostly salt before it will be worth it to correct the shade of gray to something more flattering. So in the meantime I'm stuck.

Luckily my in-styler really helps with the texture. It smooths out the frizz that the gray brings and adds a little shine that lasts till my next shampoo. It's really fast too, only 10 minutes on my bra-strap length hair. That's one beauty investment I'm glad I made.

You should just go for it then, just do it once maybe when you are on vacation, it's fun and what the heck, it grows back!

Some grey hair is attractive, as I said, and it's attractive on some people (depending on complexion, etc.). It was gorgeous on my mother, for instance. It's not attractive on me. I don't color it, but I also don't like it. We ARE talking about appearance here, right? Otherwise, who cares what anyone does with his or her hair as long as the brain is open for business!

My son’s wife swims daily, so very short hair is convenient. Other people’s hair is no one’s business.
