It has been just the opposite for me. I've been able to have more time to watch my weight and take better care of myself. I've lost a lot of weight over the past few years getting to a normal weight. It is much easier now to maintain since I have more time to plan meals and to exercise.
"Attractive?" I am not focused on attracting anyone, but I like how I feel when I am exercising and at a healthy weight. America has an obesity problem. The people I know who are obese consume more than food; as a group, they consume a disproportionate share of healthcare resources. Obesity is not good for the individual and it is not good for society.
This is good to know. According to the calculator, I only need to lose 3 pounds.
I was size 4 in college, then size 6 after the first kid. Now I'm size 8. But my youngest daughter said the size has since ballooned, 8 now is the old 10 or 12. So who knows.
Don't let sizes fool you. A size 4 when we were in college is like a 00 today, Your daughter has it exactly right. I look at old pictures of myself and think I was too thin.....and I still wear the same size 4 today. I am not the same size!
Growing up with Twiggy as a fashion icon...I spent a lifetime obsessed with weight. I was a lifetime member of Weight Watchers in 6th grade. Finally....I am DONE struggling to be a size 8. Enough is enough!!!!! I'm very happy as a size 12...I still have a tendency to put on the pounds and when that happens I go back to healthier eating....I cut out the sugar. I LOVE cookies, cake, ice cream and chocolate...I still can't eat "1" cookie
This whole thread amuses me. Who CARES what size anyone else is in the first place? Women are the WORST to each other. I have seen and heard so much judgmental ugliness about weight from women. Enough already! I care what a person is like on the inside! For God's sake, eat a freaking cookie once in awhile. What else is there? Standing on the scale and staring in the mirror? Just stay active and get your long walks in each day.

the flip side is my wife was quite small and was like a size one . you know how embarrassing it was for me to go in to a store like victoria's and ask if that hot bra and panty set comes in children's sizes ....
by the way i stopped going in to that store , they lie . they had a big sign that said all our bra's are half off . i peeked inside the store and everyone was fully dressed
The idea of weight vs attraction should be replaced with the concept of weight vs health. We cannot see the inside of a fat person but the excessive fat we see on the outside also is on the inside and places stress on internal organs, etc. Thus we should always strive towards the recommended BMI for health reasons.

I think even bras are super sized. They want to make women feel bigger at the top. I threw a bunch of bras for my daughter who lost a lot of weight, she is a size 00 or 02 now, but was size 04 to 06 before losing weight, I was really surprised at the bra size. I know she was no bigger than I was either.
Google weight and joint pain. Every 1 lb. of weight equals about 4 lbs. of pressure on the knees. Aging, aching joints don't need that. Beauty or attractiveness has nothing to do with it.
This is so true. When I recently lost 30 pounds my knees no longer hurt. I always knew the extra weight was no good for any of my joints, but it took losing weight to really get the message.
