You would need to pick it up to take it to a different level, and then return it to the dock yourself.

I never use the docks. I just turn the Roombas off and carry them back to where they're stored.

I can only talk about Roomba's, but I've had at least 4 of them and none required attaching the dock, you simply place it on the floor adjacent to a wall because if you put the dock away from the wall the roomba will push it all over while trying to dock

No, the dock is what charges the Roomba, you would not need to charge it between floors, you'd just carry it to where you have the dock plugged in. Or, you could get an additional dock- they have them on ebay for $10-$25

I dont ever use the docks. In fact, I throw them out and just plug the Roombas directly into electrical outlets.

I also dont use the walls. I prefer to just close the doors or roll up a rug to block the doorway.

I didn't use the dock for my 400 and 600 series Roombas but you have no choice with the 900 series there isn't a place to directly plug it in. I don't use the walls either I only have a few places I don't want it to go so I just put something on the floor that it won't try to climb over.

Oh no. Another reason why I wouldnt want the newer series of Roombas. Give me the good old 400/4000 series, with no bells n whistles. Thanks so much for the info!

I also never use the dock. I like to empty the bin first then return it to the dock. I run Roomba until the battery dies, unfortunately every time it dies I have to play "find the Roomba".
