Some better restaurants don't allow tipping these days & instead pay their servers a living raise supported by much higher menu prices, perhaps that is the case here too?)

On one hand I just finished off Thanksgiving leftovers with a turkey tikka masala, brown rice & veggies; plus I emptied out my freezer yesterday of all the chicken/turkey parts/leftovers & veggie parts not used in meals (mushroom stems, carrots gone soft, onion ends, etc) and made enough soup to last days with rice or barley or noodles.

On the other hand the pub down the street makes about the best hamburger I have ever tasted & I have tasted a lot of good burgers. Their purveyor makes a custom mix of short rib, dry aged beef, etc... fancy stuff. I happily spend $30-$45 for a top-flight burger & fries & a couple of beers/drinks every 3-4 weeks... totally good value to me.
Most who were there were celebrating a special event …

By the way , the kids paid a little extra and we got a seat at the chefs table in the kitchen …i got lots of great photos if any one wants to see .

I saw a story on them and they changed their format a little ….instead of it all being chef barber creations, each day he now lets one of the master chefs have their own day to feature what they specialize in …no prices are listed now so I assume they are even more expensive .

The food was amazing ..we tried stuff we would never eat …we had roasted bone marrow with seasoned bits of heart …you would never know what you were eating it was so good .

There were lots of vegetable creations

Dessert was an actual piece of bee hive with fresh honey and fruits with whip cream they make and flavor .

Here are a few we took …that duck was just killed minutes before cooking .

The moisture and sweat under the gloves should give the food a nice flavor!

So here’s another inflation example.

I just walked out of Lids, a hat retailer in the Asheville Mall. I need a new Reds hat. German shepherd got hold of the one I bought in the spring. I think I paid $25 for that hat. Similar Reds hats are now going for $44.99.

Just walked through Eddie Bauer. A simple flannel shirt was $90. A puffer jacket is $250. Yes, there were 30% discounts, but still, it’s just awful. I don’t know who is buying this stuff. People on fixed incomes certainly aren’t.

The 18-pack was 78 cents.
But not organic.

Almost all of my clothing comes from Eddie Bauer

You need to buy online.

90 dollar jeans, I can get for way less than half price.

A pack of oxtail for stew, previously $22, now $52. That brought inflation home to me!

There’s an outlet in a shopping center by my house. I don’t remember it being anywhere nearly this high, but that $90 flannel, 30% off, is $63. Still nuts.
