In my early 20s "2 out of 3 ain't bad" became the theme song for that period of my life. I broke up with my fiance and was totally devastated. I sat in my room and played this song over and over again and wanting the world to end.
To this day, I can't think about her and my life back then without thinking of Meatloaf and this song. With Meatloaf gone, part of me is gone as well. https://www.bing.com/videos/search?q...6FORM%3DHDRSC3
For me, the breakup song was "Who's Gonna Drive You Home Tonight?" by the Cars. I, like you, spent nearly an entire summer listening to that song, torturing myself, thinking I was going to die, because HE was my first real love. Crying for days on end. I felt the same as you. I didn't know how I would ever ever recover from the heartbreak. And yet, I did, and you did. But we never forget those times, do we?
I cannot listen to that song today because that is what I think of when I hear it.
Just like I cannot listen to "Heart of Gold" by Neil Young. Ever...first few strums, I gotta run turn it off. Same guy...same heartache......
music....
We admire "stars" who make us feel what we are feeling, resonate with us, make us feel good or commiserate with our sadness.
Or just give us entertainment to slip away, even for a brief moment, from our own complicated lives.
I have always related life to music, because songs of old, at least, speak to us. They tell our stories, good bad, indifferent.
Ever been in a situation where "I want you, I need you, but there ain't no way I'm ever gonna love you..."??
That may have been the spouse you seem to claim some hate, but it really IS perhaps a part of life.
Just like another songs lyrics: 'aint it sad to belong to someone else when the right one comes along...'
Yes, people are born, and people will die, and as I said before, still the earth keeps on turning.
But for a brief moment in our own history, certain people made an impression on us.
Others, no matter how close, maybe not so much.
Best
You are so right.
I think the problem is when people are close to each other, to live with each other day in day out, they find faults and problems from others, and they don't see their own, or they do but they don't admit they have faults and problems, and they always think they are right, others are wrong. People like to pick on, criticize others, but they don't want others to pick on and criticize them. The more people live close to each other and longer, the more people will hate each other. And those who live together like to take advantage of others, or to be taken advantage of, hate each other so much. And people often think of the ones who don't live with them day in, day out, are better, because they don't see all the faults in them, and don't have conflicts with each other. People tend to have fantasies through novels, songs and movies and admire famous, handsome, beautiful writers, singers, actors, actresses.
That's why I think and see eventually more and more people don't want to get married and have children anymore. But there are lots of people who still want to get married or live together and have children because they don't want to be alone/lonely, or want to be "normal". And then they eventually hit the hard times and think they've made "mistakes" and want to run away from commitment and responsibilities.
People are too complicated. So many people just want be close to some others to take advantages of them; and when they cannot take advantage of those anymore, they hate them. That's why I've learned I better to keep a distance from everyone at work, in the society, and even in the family sometimes, so I won't get hurt or hurt anyone.
Many people are not realistic and are stupid. I may be sometimes too. LOL.

There are good/nice people out there. Interact with the good people and do your best to avoid the bad/mean people. I try (I'm not always successful) to laugh off people who try to bring me down by criticizing me. My life has gotten better using this approach. People who attack you usually have problems with themselves and are often jealous. Some people (I have a lot in my family) don't like to see others happy.

That's because celebs bring us nothing but joy. ..
Especially musicians because music makes us feel so good. Musicians and cooks bring more joy to us than any other profession, according to Fran Lebowitz, and she may be right.
A talented fellow, Mr. Meatloaf, but I didn't particularly care for his music or attitude.
They first came for the dead unvaxed and I either cheered or said nothing because I was vaxed and FOLLOWing the DECREES. Then they came for the sick unvaxed and mocked them and I either cheered or said nothing because I was FOLLOWING the Government DECREE and didn't want to be CANCELED. Then the GOVERNMENT distributed health care based on RACE, I said nothing for fear for being called a racist. Eventually the Government (and leftist mob) came for me as I wasn't the perfectly woke thinking citizen and no one was left to defend me.
You ever wonder how despotic socialist societies develop?
Is this really the USA you want to LIVE in?
Well, two news sources now say he was critically ill with Covid 19 for a couple of days before he died. He had previously said, "If I die, I die, I'm not going to be controlled" He made his choice. I wonder if his family and friends regret the choice he made. Chances are good that if he were vaxxed and boosted Covid would not have killed him. People say give me liberty or give me death, but it's not a smart choice with Covid.
