"At 82, Helen Connolly is actually — measurably! — getting better every day.
At the Saratoga retirement home where she has spent the past four years, Connolly chooses from one of four exercise classes every day, plays bocce regularly with friends, and gets in a round of golf at least once a week. Her muscles are pumped, and so is her spirit."

Interesting article (there is a video, too, but I haven't viewed it):

There have been several cases where an elderly person confined to a rest home, can't walk, and diagnosed with dementia have been taken off the drug cocktail they had been prescribed (one drug after another to treat the side-effects of the last), and were taken off the drugs, put on a regular exercise - weightlifting program and regained their ability to walk and get around find and their minds back. The lesson is that is that it is never too late to start improving your physical abilities. And watch how many drugs you are on.

Not that some drugs don't do great things too. Just saying...

I agree about being very careful about taking drugs - if at all possible lay off them...
