Hope it's just that, and not trying to hide a spike in new cases in other (election related) news.

Your phone is going to go nuts with an alert at 12:00 pm (noon) today. Don't panic!

It's just to let you know that the new restrictions (announced during Thursday's press briefing) will begin.

1,629 cases over the weekend (on Friday alone, 687 positive tests!). Positivity rate of 6.7% for Sunday. 17 patients on ventilators. https://www.providencejournal.com/st...ys/6219925002/
And we just started with very weak restrictions (anybody notice that they announce restrictions and impose them AFTER the weekend - to allow for a last hurrah of covid bar hopping?)

"The Health Department now says 44 COVID-positive patients were admitted to hospitals on Thursday, the most in a single day since May 1. An average of 31 COVID-positive patients a day were admitted to Rhode Island hospitals in the week from Nov. 1-7, which is above the 30-patients-per-day threshold that Gov. Gina Raimondo has said could trigger greater restrictions on Rhode Islanders."
-Providence Journal

Hospitalizations rise above the threshold. I'm not sure what the governor's strategy is now. More weak restrictions?

More and more police officers contracting covid. Will they start wearing masks?
"Unlike civilians, police officers deemed close contacts of COVID-19 cases who are asymptomatic do not have to quarantine for two weeks, since it would severely deplete the ranks of the department." For now it's only contacts - but as our cases climb up, will we be like Belgium that asks (essential or) health care workers with covid symptoms to come and report to work? Or will our government finally step forward and implement emergency measures? There is light at the end of the tunnel - no need to let covid run rampant now!!
