I can tell you with 100% certainty and from personal experience that it is NOT Sprint. You can even check their online coverage map. I'm not sure why their service isn't stronger in Roanoke, but if my calls frequently keep getting sent straight to voice mail I will be switching carriers when my contract is up in April. I've always loved Sprint and had great service when living and traveling elsewhere, but apparently Sprint doesn't love Roanoke.

I can tell you for a fact that sprint has horrible coverage in Bedford County where my parents live.

I have AT&T but coverage is horrible, from within the house.

I've used Verizon for the past 4+ years and have yet to come across a dead-zone in/around Roanoke.

The Sprint network in Roanoke, and much of western VA is a unique situation. While Sprint owns their own stores, customer service, and wireless spectrum, their network is built and operated by nTelos. This was common in the early days of sprint as they operated through many local affiliates. But as time has gone on, most affiliates have sold out to Sprint leaving western Virginia as one of the few areas Sprint doesn't operate the network that serves their customers.

For the best coverage, you'd be hard pressed to find a better provider than US Cellular. Their phone selection has really improved over the past year too.

I'm very angry that my neighbors shared with me the cable drops often and they can't use their phone in the house when I have a business online. What do I do? I want to go on the news about it especially when all my neighbors shared this.
