Sept and Oct weather have been near perfect!
Just stop. Sac had many 100 + degree days. It was miserable as usual and the poor air from wild fires made it worse.

Only thing that saved Sac frim Indian summer is el nino. It's gonna be a wet one.

chahunt, Monterey is one of the nicest places to live in California. The only reason we are leaving is to be able to better afford buying a home. Like most highly desirable locations along the coast housing costs are very high. Its time for us to move on for other reasons as well including preparing to send three kids to college while saving for retirement. But if we could choose to do it all over again like we did 11 years ago we would gladly move to Monterey again. Its been an amazing time for sure exceeding our expectations. We're just at a different life stage now.

So if you can swing it even if just to rent I do think it is worth it, IMO. Over time the market will eventually soften. But even then it will remain a higher end location and priced accordingly. It really is like living in a resort with incredible beauty, low crowds and near perfect weather year round. For us it will always be the best of what CA has to offer.

For 4 months, May to Sept 2018

How Many Days of 100+ Actual standing air temp Days?

Sacramento - 12 Days

How Many Days of 100+ Heat Index, "Feels Like" Days?

Sacramento - 1 Day

*In the Summer, Almost always, Sacramento's Heat Index, "Feels Like Temp" is 3-5 degrees COOLER than the standing Air temp. For example, a standing air temp of 100F, feels like 95F-97F in Sacramento.

In most cities in the USA, the "feels like" temp is Hotter than the standing air temp, but not in Sacramento. Sacramento's very comfortable dew points and low humidity is the reason behind Sacramento's COOLER heat index temp.

Sac is a fine place to retire. Just accept that from late june until late september, outdoor activity will be limited.

Not any different than living somewhere with brutal winters. Just the inverse.

Sacramento does not have "brutal" summers. Examples of Brutal summers would be Austin, Dallas, Phoenix, Las Vegas, New Orleans, and Miami to name "just a few".

Compared to more than 3/4 of the nations other metros/cities, Sacramento has a more comfortable summer, and in fact, Sacramento has one of the COOLEST morning, evening, and nighttime summers temps compared to much of the nations other metros.

A Sacramento summer is more comfortable than a midwestern or eastern winter.

I think the insane diurnal temperature variation is one of the worst features of the Sacramento climate! The cool mornings make the scorching afternoons feel even worse by comparison.

I totally disagree. In winter one can just put on a warm coat and be comfortable when going outside. I will take a Wisconsin winter over a Sacramento summer anyday! There is no way to cope with the extreme heat and sun of Sacramento summers.
