Sacramento to Phoenix = 756 miles
Sacramento to Las Vegas = 562 miles
Sacramento to Austin = 1761 miles
Sacramento to Orlando = 2812 miles
Sacramento to Miami = 3036 miles

Sacramento to Mojave = 514 miles

Sacramento to Redwood City = 124 miles

In fact, "my point of view Sacramento is just another locale in this greater Sac/Bay Area region." Seems like Redwood City is an apt comparison to me.

So when was the last "CoolWave" in Sacramento. Pretty much the entire month of May and Just a few days ago for the last 13 days - June 2016. Heat index high temps were in the 80's and 70's. Add another 6 days for a total of 19 days of comfortable weather if the 90's with very low humidity feels fine at that outdoor BBQ.

Sacramento Lows averaged in the mid 50's great for outdoor exercise.

Yeah, 63F at poolside is a bit too cold for me at 8pm. The Bay Area's SF Peninsula doesn't exactly have "Summer" weather.

I prefer Sacramento's 78F at 8pm while I'm swimming in my backyard pool, or taking the Kayak out on Sacramento's American River to watch the sunset. Comfortable breezes blowing up the American River right now, hmm, it must be Sacramento's famous Delta Breeze.

And, I love that overnight it will be in the 60's letting things cool off naturally without A/C saving on the A/C bill. And that by my morning run, the nearby Sacramento park will be in the very low 60's, or upper 50's cool and refreshing as you run, not heavy and balmy, Sacramentans complain when their mornings are in 70's too warm. We know by noon it will plenty warm in the afternoon, no worries of it being too "cool".

While at 8pm:

Austin, Texas was 96F, San Antonio was 97F, Dallas was 98F, OKC was 96F, Orlando was 91F.

Phoenix was 108F, Vegas 106F, Portland was 72F.....hmm, Sacramento seems more like Portland the south and southwest.

63F is "winter" weather for me. I like my summer nights warm and balmy with lows around 70F with a highs in the mid to upper 80s. Going from 50s to 90s on the same day is not a positive in any climate.

The swing for Sacramento today was from 92F to 56F. Redwood City is 73F to 53F. If going from 50s to 90s is a problem for you, it sounds like your beef is with Sacramento.

Redwood City's slogan is "Weather Best by Government Test". Climate surveys by US and German government scientists found Redwood City to be at the center of one of the world's 3 best climates. The other 2 are the Canary Islands and the Mediterranean Coast of North Africa. Unfortunately, they neglected to mention Sacramento in their report.

Redwood City is too cold for swimming in an outdoor pool or even wearing summer attire in most days, especially in the evening. In that case, I prefer Sacramento but I do prefer warm balmy nights with a bit of humidity. I'll even take Phoenix (with AC) over anywhere in Northern California as they get very comfortable temps for late night swimming and get some handsome thunderstorms during the monsoon season.

I agree with you about "balmy" nights. Sacramento at 8:15pm tonight is 76F. Excellent for evening pool weather, walks in the park.

While at 8:15 tonight

Austin was 93F thats just too darn hot for nighttime weather
Phoenix 105F
Vegas 104F

Even Salt Lake City is hotter than Sac at 85F tonight, and Salt Lake is above 4200 feet in elevation.

I don't agree with you about late night and morning temps, I like it to be cool in the morning. I don't want it to feel "warm, hot or balmy" in the morning. It doesn't feel right when it never really cools down. 58F to 65F is not "cold" rather it's comfortable, cool and refreshing, but I don't want it to stay that cool all day long like in San Francisco. I like a real summer.

Sacramentans and the local weather will make a big deal and complain if the temp doesn't drop below 65-70F in the morning.

Regarding Northern California, the cities above Sacramento in the Sacramento Valley(Yuba City, Chico, Red Bluff, Redding) that do not get the Delta Breeze generally stay above 65-70F in the morning and night so you might like that.
