Nope, Sac had one of it's hottest days of the year, yet Sacramento is still NOT like Vegas. as Sacramento was almost 20 degrees COOLER than Vegas by 8:30 tonight

June 28
8:30 pm at night

Vegas - 101F
Phoenix - 104F
Sacramento - 83F - that's 18 degrees Cooler than Vegas!

June 29
Midnight

Vegas - 89F
Phoenix - 101F - smog alert still in effect in Phoenix at Midnight

Sacramento - 71F - Sac had one of it's hottest days of the year, and Sac is still 30 degrees Cooler than Phoenix tonight!

Walnut Creek (Bay Area) - 66F - that's only a 5 degree difference with Sac.
Seattle - 66F

Sacramento "Only 500 miles to Vegas" - max 99F, min 59F

Looks like today will be another 40 degree spread day for Sacramento. Worse, it'll still be 90 degrees at 7pm, so there will be no relaxing at home without a lot of air conditioning.

On the other hand, Redwood City is going to have another banner weather day.

Redwood City "not even in the greater Miami/Bay Area region" - max 77F, min 53F

Even scorching hot Walnut Creek will be just 87F to 55F, much more comfortable. Most importantly, Walnut Creek will have already cooled down by 7pm at 77F. That 77F is a world of difference from Sacramento's 90F at 7pm.

Just another day in the "greater Sac/Bay Area region".

...and here I am, planning my vacation in Sacramento next week and thinking about bringing a jacket because it's going to get cold at night! (Compared to what I'm used to, of course... it was 90F at 6am here in PS.)

What he won't tell you is the Bay Area proper is the coolest major metro in the nation in the summer. So of course, places outside of the Bay Area proper will be warmer.

Yes, most people know that Coastal California has the most comfortable weather in the summer, and if they don't know that they should, and likely the very next most comfortable weather year round including summer is Coastal SoCal and Sacramento.

He also won't tell you that Sacramento IS just another locale within the greater Sac/Bay Area region. And that the Bay Area region has many microclimates, both within the Bay Area proper including Sacramento. Hence, Sacramento's very similar morning temps with many Bay Area locales in the Summer.

Most importantly, they fail to mention that 10-12 months out of the year Sacramento and Bay Area cities have NEAR IDENTICAL weather, and that we all are in the same climate - Mediterranean. Depending on which city within the Bay Area, the similarities are 10 months of the year(SF), while others like Walnut Creek are near identical 12 months out of the year.

In winter, spring, or fall, Sacramento and SF have by far similar weather than SF and Miami, or SF and New York, or SF and Denver or SF and Seattle, and 85% of other cities across the nation. Instead they focus on 2 months out of the year in the summer.

Also, when you compare Sacramento with East Bay cities not adjacent to the actual Bay, you will find the two regions are by far closer in actual weather than when compared with many other cities throughout the nation all year long. These two areas (Sac and eastern East Bay cities) have near identical weather 12 months out of the year.

Hold it. Sacramento is hot? Inconceivable!

I mean, I just spent days reading 99 pages this thread about "how Great Sacramento weather really is". "Sacramento has by far better summer weather than 90% of the metros areas across the USA." "10 months of the year Sacramento weather is near identical to the Bay Area", and the Bay Area has one of the 3 best climates in the world. Now you tell me it's hot here? Inconceivable!
