Okay, so we're looking at some places in Elk Grove. What can you guys tell me about "Old Town" Elk Grove?

Are there any crime-ridden areas of Elk Grove I (as a small, scared female) should avoid? I don't mind run down places, as long as they're safe. :-)

Thanks!

Old Elk Grove is a little country town completely surrounded by suburban developments, it's not a "downtown" in the sense of the old part of a big city. It isn't really a big enough place to have crime-ridden vs. non-crime-ridden areas, other than the northern edge of Elk Grove is the southern edge of South Sacramento.

Yes I agree with Wburg

most everything to the west of the 99 is good. Old Town Elk Grove is cute and is fine. But if you go to the North part right above Old Town EG, then it gets sketchy. They used to be new developments that were affordable but the dregs (sp) of South Sac has made it a bit run down there.

Old Town Elk Grove is very nice. We recently moved there and are quite pleased. It isn't perfect, but I feel it offers the best combination of amenities, schools, housing for your money in the Sacramento area.
