You are correct about the grocery stores, they stop at 1:00pm. I worked at a 7-11 and at 1:00am we had to lock the beer doors.

As for beer, there are several microbeweries locally also...

Why don't they sell in grocery stores?

I love it. No you wont be jailed. Having lived in Utah my entire life and living here as a Non-LDS member, I can tell you for sure that you will not be jailed. I also enjoy my beer or my margarita with dinner, and always have. Unfortunatly for you Utah this is the idea that everyone has which just isnt true. Yes the state has some quirky laws, and yes the state has watered down beer, but it is not really that bad. It is true that they do not sell alcohol in grocery stores besides beer. It is a state mandated rule, and you have to buy everything besides beer in a state ran liquor store.

Thumbs down a bit different here

OK so drinking in Ut. is a bit different. You can only have 2 drinks on you table at a time. If you have a shot, I think you have to finish it first before you can have another drink. You absolutly can not buy any on Sundays as its prohibited. and the alcohol in grocery stores in not like any place else. they sell beer and bacardi type drinks, no wine, no hard liquor.

A ban on alcho-pops is up for consideration in this year's legislation.

the ban on alcho-pops i thinks its very stupid to just take it out of the grocery stores maybe this time utah will get it right and just leave it as is in the grocery stores. even though i don't drink but to just ban it from folks who do like to drink it ain't fair.

But why is it a state mandated rule? Why won't they sell it at Fred Meyer? it only will make me speed whilst having to stop by the local state liquor mart when I could have bought my nice pinot at the market. IJUTS
