I'm having a change over flight to Oakland on the 17th and 21st of April. I was always under the impression that SLC was a somewhat cold but generally very sunny city. But I someone recently told me that it snowed in April when they went. I just don't want my flight to be delayed.

The average date of the last snowfall of the season in Salt Lake City is actually April 18. Snow in April is not at all uncommon, although it generally melts within 24-48 hours. Snow in May is also not unheard of. By July, the average daytime temperatures are in the 90s.

Dang. So I guess it's a possibility. I'm guessing most April snow's aren't major events? It's snowing where I live right now.

And where is that?

By the way, the chances that your flight will actually be delayed because of snow is practically non-existent. Hundreds of flights leave and arrive at Salt Lake International every day of the year. A few inches of snow isn't going to make any difference.

If I recall correctly, it snowed in May last year.

You need to think of something different to worry about. I agree with Katzpur that the chances of your flight being delayed at SL international are practically non-existent. It has to be a some very specific snow conditions that cause flight delays.

It likely can snow and will be sunny on the same day. We have had great luck with slc flights in all sorts of weather.

When I moved there, It showed on my 1st full day - June something. Early June. Didn't last, not enough to disrupt anything, but coming from Mississippi, I thought I had moved to hell. Last time I saw snow in June!

It does snow in April and often torrential rain in May, in fact when i lived there heat rarely made an appearance before beginning of June. However flights don't tend to be affected to my knowledge as SLC quite geared up for it
Certainly don't miss winters there and this one a particularily bad one I hear where schools actually closed which is unheard of !
