Just want to say thanx for all the info we received. We just returned from our house hunting trip friday and we have leased a house in the East Layton area. It had most things we wanted 4bed/3bath ,fenced yard, central AC, fireplace, about 30 minutes drive to work, my kids will still be busing to school but that's OK. LOVE the area and cant wait to move out there on 12/29/10.
1 more question....which satellite provider is better in that area? Dish or Direct? Both have the sports package I need.(Have to be able to watch my Boston sports)

I prefer Dish, it isn't quite as expensive as Direct and I have found the customer service to be a bit better.

Congrats on your new home! Layton is a very pretty area. I am sure you will enjoy living up there!

I have a family member who lives in Layton and when I first visited her home I was really pleasantly surprised by the neighborhood. Layton had kind of a rough reputation when I was growing up, but it's really nice now and I'm glad you found your home!

We had a former poster who worked for Dish. He said that they used a newer technology. All I know for sure is that when I had Direct, it snowed LIGHTLY one night and my TV went out. I got rid of it b/c they had promised something they could not deliver.

If you have the satellite dish mounted on the side of the house, not the roof, I hear you can brush the snow off. I couldn't reach mine - not that I was interested in going outside when it was snowing! Also, I hear they make dish heaters, too. My cable never goes out no matter what the weather but maybe it isn't available up there.

They also make mesh covers for your satellite dish! It keeps the snow off that way. I have seen a Utah Utes one that I wanna get

I've been reading through the hundreds of threads/posts of folks relocating to the area. What I haven't seen too much of is the results of those moves. You last mentioned that you leased a house in Layton, an area I've been looking closely at. What do you think so far about your neighborhood and your neighbors?

My husband is considering a job in Clearfield and we would be relocating from Albuquerque. We have two children who will start school in Fall 2011. We are not practising any sort of religion and are tolerant of those who do (my hubby grew up in the Bible belt as a Southern Baptist).

I narrowed my search down to East Layton specifically because of the schools. Much of our demongraphic matches yours so I'd love to hear what you have to say after getting moved in.
