It starts out with a guy saying something like "Penny for your thoughts" and then goes on to tell a story about a girl named Jenny.

I also remember him singing something like:

"Ain't no sense to ***** about it 'cause we all know what's gone wrong. When it's late at night and your in your bed, the bad don't seem so wrong"

Something like that.

Ring any bells?

Thanks.
That is the title of the song and the group Great Track

Jay P as I drifted through your KEXL web page it brought a smile to my face as well as tears to my eyes. The memories !!! KEXL and it's staff were something to behold. One in a million. KEXL is gone -- LONG LIVE KEXL !!! ..

When AM 930 KLUP changed from great nostalgic radio to a talk-radio format about three years ago, I was bummed, and stopped listening. I guess it could have been described as "elevator music", but it was much better because they played great songs by the original artists and not stringed-instrumental covers.

Since then, about a year later, KHAL 1310 AM started up as talk-radio during the day and nostalgic music during the night. It has since switched to nostalgic music 24 hours. This radio station is disappointing to me because it is obviously not using the same play list that KLUP did. My point is that KLUP shouldn't have fixed what wasn't broken.

Thanks.

I grew up with Z-Rock, and left San Antonio in 1990. I was there a few months ago and there was an awesome hip-hop/R&B station, maybe 94 or 95 FM? Kiss is also a great station. I sweat, Houston radio absolutely sucks.
