So, the family and I have been here for the last year, and we missed Fiesta last year unfortunately.

This year, we wanted to make an effort to see what Fiesta was all about. However, our problem is, we still can't figure out what the heck Fiesta is. There seems to be small little celebrations all over the city, some cost money, some don't. We decided to drive down to the Alamo this afternoon to see what if anything was going on for Fiesta... and we found a few vendors, but nothing exciting.

Someone please tell me how to experience Fiesta, as it seems to be this huge deal, and I just don't see anything.

Fiesta San Antonio Have you checked out this website already?

This link is particularly helpful as it breaks it down by type of event: Events By Type 2011 « Fiesta San Antonio

Hope that helps a little!

Fiesta San Antonio
The Battle of Flowers parade is one of the biggest events, it's April 15th.

Oysterbake gets pretty big too. Go early and leave early and you can have a good time without some drunk puking on your foot.

PS. The smaller scale events are good to attend such as the ones at Palo Alto College or St. Philip's College and admission is likely free.

Here's a little history: Fiesta San Antonio

And yes, Fiesta is made up of a lot of events all going on during a two-week period. Look at the schedule online and decide what you want to do!

I look forward to Fiesta all year.

Hmm... I thought there would be one large event or something. I guess having to drive all over the city to find small celebrations here and there is sort of disappointing to me.

Buy a couple cases of beer...sit out on your front porch with your neighbors...and everytime a car drives buy yell "Happy Fiesta Amigo".

That's what we used to do!
