Mostly, yes. The ease of obtaining student loans is a big factor in why college costs so much these days.

But that's not really what this thread is about, nor is it a local topic, so we shouldn't discuss it here.

True, and my apologies if I offended anyone by posting OT.

A project like this one would certainly raise the professional profile of this city though. I'm thinking to a similar degree that SWRI has.

100 grand? Man! I'd feel like a millionaire.

I'd at least apply.

I'm curious as to which other cities are in the hunt for this project.

"it would bring a minimum of 3,000 jobs over time to Port San Antonio on the Southwest Side, with average annual pay of at least $80,000.
Now here's the upper range: as many as 5,000 jobs paying as much as $100,000 on average."

100K is the average, not entry level.

Same here.

It would be great if SA lands it.

I don't know about. It was pretty easy to get college loans 20 years ago, plus back then pretty much everyone got a Pell Grant which is now poof the last I heard.

Yes!
And hoping this gives just the boost to the housing market so that we can sell our house not at a loss!

The article mentions Washington and Florida, so considering we're talking aerospace, I'm thinking Seattle/Everett, and Cape Canaveral. Both states have more favorable overall business taxation rates than Texas, but of course the Economic Development folks can help with that aspect. Of course, the article also mentions that "Sequestration" and spending cuts could throw a wrench in the gears as well.

Sometime, with deals like these, something or somewhere comes in out of the blue from left field. I remember in the '80's, North Texas was courting the "super-conducting super-collider", a huge underground particle accelerator to be built in several counties, centered in Waxahachie. Huge amounts were spent on road infrastructure, hotels/restaurants/gas stations were built, there was a huge anticipation for all of the jobs involved.

In the end, the project went to Illinois.
