Has anyone been here lately? Someone told me it closed down and it is now home to vagrants, taggers, etc. If so that is a shame b/c it was a cool building.

TIA!

There are a lot of nice things about the place, but honestly the price and "gourmet" menu put me off a bit. We were hoping it would be a little more reasonable, and that the portions would be a bit bigger. Plus, the food wasn't at a level I would call "gourmet." It was good, but I've been to true gourmet places and there are standards and expectations that weren't met.

The problem is that this shouldn't be a "gourmet" place, it's an old homestead that has a bar and big screen TVs showing sports.

It is reminiscent of the mistake made by the Helotes Cafe (the place where Shorty's was), this isn't the part of town where those places do well. That's not to slag on the area (hell, I live in it) but simply the truth of it.

As for the "not for kids" remark, first there really isn't a menu for them that I've seen, and most kids I know wouldn't be thrilled with what's offered on the adult menu.

Again, it's a cool place and the food is good; I just think they need to expand their menu to appeal to a larger swath of customers. Otherwise, what they've done to the old homestead is impressive and it's definitely a cool place to eat/hang out.

Cheers! M2

Ah!!! Excellent imput! Thanx!!! I really do hope they get their groove on, cuz it would be nice for a place like that to stay in biz over here!! (And I guess I'm "lucky". My tiny little girls would love a LOT of the stuff on the menu ~ esp the spicy shrimp and the baby back ribs. Problem is, they'd each be able to polish off a full rack! Gets expensive! LOL!! If I could only figure out a way to bottle their metabolism! I'd be a gadzillionaire! )

We went to San Fran Steakhouse last Mother's Day. A caterer bought out the place was the last thing I heard. It was a wonderful spread for Mother's Day and we had a great time. I hope it hasn't closed again.

Default Nemo's Seafood on Potranco & 1604= YUMMY!

Just wanted to put the word out that for the 2nd time today, we tried Nemo's Seafood, and it is very good. The prices aren't bad either! . My only pet peeve is the aquarium in the front that I wish they would buy a couple of algae eaters for, but other than that, everything is clean.

I ate there a few weeks after it opened. It was good for us, albeit some of the negative reviews on Urbanspoon. I'm curious about the frog legs that I saw on the menu...maybe sometime soon.

Used to love going there when I was a kid and watching the girl on the swing...what a job!

Wish someone with the money could re-do it and turn it back into a nice place to eat with good food...so tired of seeing the chain places with pre-fab food.
