Yeah...they're gonna pay for all your gasoline too.

If they are not allowed to access myspace on school computers, (and I know they are not), then yeah, I'd have an issue with it. Good Lord, I am afraid to find out what he's researching. How many different bathroom poses for self-portraits there are?

From a social media standpoint, sites like MySpace, Facebook, digg, etc are all transforming the way we communicate. While a ton of users on MySpace still haven't grown up, there are a ton of businesses, musicians, groups, etc on there that have good content.

I read an article about a kid that completed a science report on the platypus using only YouTube:

I use social media daily, for business and personal use.

Well I agree the social networking is in. But not for my 11 yo. This was a project to find songs to learn to sing. I already talked to his teacher and informed him he will not be accessing myspace and he is to help him find songs thru other avenues.
Myspace is not allowed in the schools so it cannot be justified to ask a child to use it for researching something at home.

That is a good point, if it isn't allowed in schools, they shouldn't use it as a learning tool.

I've seen myspace band pages that look awesome - as with any online service, there are those that ruin it for everyone else.
