Does anybody have a good idea of where to get free boxes for moving? I've checked out the neighborhood stores (Sam's Club, Wal-Mart, Target, HEB), gone to cardboard dumpsters behind strip malls, etc. & haven't had much luck. I probably only need about 15 boxes and find one here & there, but would like to get them all taken care of at once.

Call your local Walmart and ask when they will be restocking their shelves. You can get what boxes that have at that time.

Go to the produce section at HEB, speak with whomevers in charge and ask them to put as many "dry" boxes to the side and be sure to pick them up when you promise because they can't hold them for long. You can't go to GM because they use box cutters and generally only stock overnight.

Try the liquor stores in your neighborhood-- if you ask them to hold them for you, they probably will.

Just checked craigslist.com., there are some on there under "free". If they are gone, try listing that you need some under "wanted".

Try TJ Maxx or Marshalls. Its best if you can stop in on a weekday mid morning/afternoon before they throw them out for recycle. Or go in and ask the manager if they can hold some boxes aside for you. Every move we've been able to get great boxes from them.

If I were in San Antonio at the moment you could have a whole ton of the things... I probably have 100 including a few wardrobe ones left over from the move and they're just sitting in my attic. If you still need some on Saturday the 20th I'll be back by then.
