I just bought a house here. I am new to the city and am loving it. What I didn't realize however is that right next door my neighbor runs a home daycare - 7 days a week. There are children on her patio screaming from sun up to sun down and very little adult supervision from what I can see. I love children, I am a mother and a teacher, but this screaming is making me crazy. I'm not sure what to do about it. Does anyone have any advise?

Can your home owner's association help? Some do not allow home businesses in the neighborhood.

You can check here to see if she's licensed: http://www.dfps.state.tx.us/Child_Ca...hildCare2.aspx

Well, look at it this way, at least she's not running an Adult Daycare. I'll tell you what, when I used to deliver groceries to ADC's I could not stand the smell, anywhere from Urine, Iodine, Old people smell, and the worst of them all, the IV stank.

And some of the old people would stare at you and make rude remarks.

Quite a tribute to teachers across America. I would advise starting your own daycare, undercut her prices, and put her out of business. Problem solved.

LOL

Seriously - many newer neighborhoods have restrictions against home based businesses. I wouldn't want a home daycare next door to me either - especially seven days a week. I assume this means traffic in front of your house morning and night. No fun. When you purchased your home you should have gotten a copy of the deed restrictions that would outline what home owners can and can not do.

As far as someone's lively hood. If it is against the deed restrictions - then they are breaking rules they agreed to when they bought the home.

Again, check the deed restrictions and see if they are registered properly as others have suggested.
