Well, you'll be happy to know that unless revenue drops or the station gets bought by someone else. This format will likely remain for awhile. BMP Radio which currently owns KTFM, also owns Digital 104.1, 95.7 La Ley, KTSA, KZDC and Jack. Rating wise, all of them are failures with the exception of Jack.

haha @ magic! I never thought of it like that but yeah they do play the same played out songs. 105.3 & 101.9 are basically the same stations to me. No need for both of them. SA really needs better music stations. The radio stations here always play songs that they call new which actually aren't new and have been out forever. Like M.I.A.- Paper Planes song came out in March of last year and 96.1 & 94.1 only started playing it in September or November way late. Recently on 96.1 they started playing the new Beyonce- Halo song when it came out last year in November. How are they just now playing it and calling it new? I don't understand why they wait so late with songs. They also did it with Lady Gaga too.

What is it that's so appealing that the majority of the stations have these clowns? In the morning, or afternoon, I like to hear some news, some weather, some sports, and some traffic.. but mostly I want to hear music! I have yet to meet someone who says "OMG, I have to go to work this morning because I have to hear what DJ Dum-arse has to say about American Idol last night!"
I totally hate hearing the morning talk shows. I don't care about hearing celebrity gossip like 96.1 talks about. I wanna listen to music not morning talk shows. If I wanted to hear talking I would go to talk radio with something on AM.

I agree.. and what's even worse is replay parts of the morning show all day long just in case I forgot I didn't want to hear the show in the morning!

Take a look where 101x(KROX) is ranked-
Ratings
If you look at the ratings link The Buzz in Houston is climbing up towards #1. I wouldn't say that Alt Rock is horrible there. They do have a great morning show though, I miss Rod Ryan.

the only morning talk I really liked was when Kidd Chris was in town over at 102.7 K-rock.

yes, he was crude and lewd, but it was such a fresh change, we actually had a shock rock DJ in san antonio.
I'm glad I taped his morning shows.

They have 2 hip hop stations for the urban Hispanic/ African American population in SA, also the military people( mostly young ) that relocate from the east and west coast.
Houston has an hip hop 97.9 the box, old school r&b station magic 102.1 which is #1 in the city and a jazz station 90.9 because thats what people want to hear and there ratings speak being the top stations in Houston, I know plenty of people in SA who want the same.

Once again, it's all about demographics. You can't compare SA demos with Houston.

You were mentioned that it was horrible across the country, not just SA.
