Uranium?? wow! But mining something there certainly makes sense!

Dopo...that's very interesting. Is there a story with the picture? It looks like ancient burial grounds. I don't think that's what is going on with the OP's pic however.

Editing to add that I see where you're talking about an unfinished pyramid. Its hard to see from an ariel, the there is definitely an oblique rectangular shaped mound to the Southeast. I was hoping the birdseye feature was working on virtual earth, but it's generally not available in more rural areas. It's also in another county so tracing the owner would require going to the county courthouse. If it's Atascosa County, that would be a MAJOR pia!

Interesting little mysteries.

I hope you don't mind but I took about 50 pics of the Mounds before I left Illinois in 2006. Here are some pics.

Well, meteors aren't exactly unheard of here... My hubby works at Canyon Lake (Spring Branch) and about 6 times in the last year, he's called me to tell me about a meteor he watched coming down.
Only last week he rang me all excited because at about 2am one morning, he was parked across from the lake and watched one come down and land IN the water with a huge splash.
Don't think I'd like to be anywhere near the one that made that huge crater in the Google image photo that someone posted, though!
