Granary for lunch. Somewhat worried about others talking price.... the quality was certainly worth it for tender brisket vs the tough inedible sliced stuff elsewhere. friendly atmosphere.. will go back soon.

Just got back from Portland, Maine. Sorry to say that none of the local fish places (even the fancy pants) can compared to some of the mom and pop places for quality and taste to what we had there.

Good fish simply prepared beats Chief Abbadabbadoo's sauced creations.

That would be because most fish served here took a plane ride to get here. In Maine, it was probably in the ocean yesterday, instead of sitting in a cooler on an airport tarmac. This is why the local seafood wholesaler is located close to the airport.

Not all seafood is flown in, some is delivered by truck to S.A. from the coast (Gulf of Mexico).
Las Vegas is as you describe, everything has to be flown in.

Although to be fair, in Las Vegas- at the right seafood spot- you can get fish that's flown in fresh so quickly that it's still alive when it hits their kitchens. Bartolotta at Wynn is one prime example. Amazing Italian fish.

That might be the case. I had really good seafood in Chicago. I just don't think seafood is a SA specialty. Actually I find the best fish at Japanese restaurants.

I agree about SA seafood: Many people here think SeaIsland or Red Lobster is decent quality, and that thought absolutely frightens me.

Unless you're on a coast, truly fresh seafood will cost you. I prefer mine to be cold-water caught, but settle for Florida lobster (mudbugs) and grouper now and then. I also rarely ever turn down a Key West pink

I read somewhere that 90% of the seafood eaten in the U.S. comes from other countries. And the FDA inspects less than 2% of imported seafood.

Yeah, when I ask them where their crab comes from I always get a different answer. I come from Alaska so is why I ask them. They will say it comes from the Gulf and when I ask them "nothing from Alaska?" they say sometimes, but the Kings can come from Russia. Not cool.

I like crawfish but when I looked at the HEB package and it said - China- no thanks.

Red Lobster quality had deteriorated over time. We skip it. Darden restaurants in general are in some trouble. We've had server trouble in them also. Badly managed.
