What is the scoop on Lemon Grove? Can someone give me the run down on the good + bad areas? Would you buy a house there if you had kids? It's coming down to where we could afford to buy a house in Lemon Grove or we good get a decent looking condo in the northern part of the county. Comments on this forum have already scared me from buying in Spring Valley or El Cajon. Help, please!

There are nice family areas in El Cajon, Spring Valley, and Lemon Grove. How much are you looking to spend on a house?

We're trying really hard to stay under $250,000, which doesn't leave a lot of single-family-detached properties, and most of those are short sales.

You'll probably need to get closer to $300k for a decent area. I'm no Spring Valley expert but I do have a friend who lives there. He lives near this house:

Seems like a decent house in a nice family 'hood to me. Not sure about the schools though.
